</TD></TR></TABLE>Hezbollah says the movement's victory in the 33-day war shows the vision of a powerful Israel propagated by the West is an illusion.

"The resistance victory over Israel in the 33-day war revealed that the vision of a powerful Israel was an illusion created by the global arrogance (the US and its allies)," Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said in a statement to a film festival held in Tehran on Tuesday. cheers

"Today, for the first time since the creation of the Israeli regime, the enemy is surrounded by deep crises; devastating crises that have foiled its strategies and it cannot find a way out of them," the Hezbollah leader added.

The remarks come amid ongoing political crisis within the Israeli regime, which is to force Prime Minister Ehud Olmert out of the office.

Olmert who is being questioned by police over a corruption case has been facing calls for his resignation. He recently announced that he would step down in next month.

The Hezbollah leader went on to say although the movement had reiterated that Israel would never be able to destroy the resistance, the regime and its Western allies "kept their desperate efforts to replace the concept of 'victory' in Lebanon with 'the permanent dominance of Israel'."

Israel fought a 33 day war against Lebanon in summer 2006 to destroy the military power of Hezbollah. The military attack against Lebanon, however, led to defeat of the regime.

The Winograd Committee tasked by Tel Aviv to launch a probe into the war, in its report, admitted to severe failures and flaws in the decision making process during the war.
